Christie began her education pursuing a Vocal and Instrumental Music Education Degree with a Minor in Piano Performance. After three years of coursework, she transferred to a Performance Degree and earned a Bachelor of Music in Classical Vocal Performance from Montclair State University. She went on to earn a Master of Music Degree with an Advanced Certificate in Vocal Pedagogy from NYU, Steinhardt where she also taught as an adjunct voice instructor for several years. She has continued her education with certificates in Vocal Health First Aide and Vocal Habilitation.
As a Singing Voice Specialist or Vocal Rehab Specialist, Christie has partnered with leading Laryngologists and Speech and Language Pathologists in Seattle, NYC, Chicago, and LA as a member of voice care teams to help professional singers and actors recover from vocal injuries and disorders. She has worked both in the clinic and out and continues to be a leading SVS with many doctors referring patients to her for care. After her own vocal injury, surgery, and recovery she was inspired to do further coursework on vocal injuries and voice disorders to be able to provide this service and to work toward destigmatizing voice disorders and injuries amongst vocal athletes.
An experienced Music Director and Teaching Artist, Christie has worked at top tier Regional Theaters like Village Theatre and Seattle Children’s Theatre and even taught from the Wicked stage at the Gershwin on Broadway! She especially enjoys music directing in educational settings.
Christie has worked as a private voice instructor for over 25 years; first in NJ, then NYC, Baltimore/DC, and finally she has been teaching in Seattle and online since 2016. Specializing in Musical Theatre and Commercial Music Styles, her private students are currently performing on Broadway, Off-Broadway, at local and regional theaters around the world, and on National Tours, as touring pop/rock singers, singer-songwriters, and on film and television. She also recently spent a year working as a Visiting Assistant Professor of Voice in The Department of Theatre and Film at The University of Mississippi. When working with singer-actors, she likes to combine detailed vocal technique work with acting through song training and musicianship skills to help create complete performers who have healthy voices, live truthfully in the moment on stage, and know how to navigate the business. She is a strong advocate for artistic autonomy in her students.
