Explain Your Career Path
After graduating from SEMO, I moved to Kansas City for my first post-college job at a 300-unit property management firm. From there, I moved to Boston and managed retail for a short period before returning to property management. After 10 years in that industry, my wife Lauren and I purchased a B&B on the Maine coast, where we have been for over 7 years now.
What was your major at Southeast, and how would you characterize the quality of that program to prospective students?
Dual Major, BSBA Marketing and BA Advertising. The two programs worked really well together and taught me a lot about being in the business world, even if not directly related to marketing/advertising it connects.
Why did you choose to attend Southeast?
I decided at the last minute that I didn't want to graduate college with over $100k in student loan debt so I chose to stay closer to home for a quality education at a more affordable rate.
Who influenced you most during your time at Southeast?
The people I met during my time in the Alpha Kappa Psi National Business Fraternity
Share your best college memory.
Freshman year with a great friend who passed far too soon and the friends that came thereafter.
What is the most important thing you learned while you were at Southeast?
How to get outside of my comfort zone
Describe Southeast in three words.
Henderson, Frederick, and Bellevue (the 3 streets I lived on)
What advice would you give current students or recent graduates interested in pursuing a career in your professional field?
Hospitality is a challenging field where you always work harder than you get paid for, but just about every day, it's worth it.
