Southeast Missouri State University’s Will to Do Award is one of the ways Southeast creates opportunities for students to get a high-quality college education.
“We know families are considering the cost of college, and we want to create pathways to a high quality education without a high cost,” said the director of Southeast Admission, Lenell Hahn. “Federal aid isn’t always enough to cover everything. The Will to Do Award helps our Missouri students focus on their college education, not stress about the bill.”
After a student receives the Pell Grant, Access Missouri, and any other grants or scholarships, the Will to Do Award covers the remaining amount. With this, students can go to school without paying anything in tuition.
“We try to educate families about the award,” said Hahn. “I think when people see $0 tuition and general fees they think it couldn’t possibly apply to them, but it can. We want students to apply and see for themselves.”
Eligibility is determined after filing a FAFSA form before March 1. Students must be Federal Pell Grant eligible, beginning freshmen, Missouri residents, enrolled full-time, and have a 2.75 cumulative high school GPA.
“Applying is the first step,” said Hahn. “Once admitted with a FAFSA filled out, we can see what aid and awards are available. After that, we can focus on your experience as a new Redhawk.”
Southeast is committed to providing a high-quality education without the high cost. About 40% of students receive Pell grants, and 96% of students received some sort of financial aid. Southeast awards more than $20 million in scholarships to students each year. Find more information on aid and scholarships and apply to Southeast by visiting the Southeast Office of Admissions page.
