Beginning Feb. 13, “Exhibiting Excellence,” the 44th Annual High School Art Exhibition, an invitational juried art exhibit for 11th and 12th grade students in southeast Missouri and southern Illinois, will be displayed in the Rosemary Berkel and Harry L. Crisp II Museum at Southeast Missouri State University’s River Campus.
The exhibit will be on display through March 13, and admission is free. Face coverings are encouraged.
“‘Exhibiting Excellence’ showcases the amazing talent of local students and provides young artists an opportunity to display their work and receive professional and local recognition,” said Jim Phillips, museum manager and senior curator.
“The students’ artwork is a testament to their abilities and skills, as well as the dedication and encouragement of their teachers.” he said. “This must-see exhibition celebrates the students hard work and encourages their future artistic abilities.”
An awards reception will be held on Feb. 13 at 2 p.m., with awards presented at 3 p.m. First-, second- and third-place awards will be presented in the categories of sculpture, ceramics, printmaking, graphic design, mixed media, photography, fibers, digital art, drawing and painting.
This year’s juror will be Emily Denlinger, associate professor of TITLE and area head of digital art at Southeast. Denlinger regularly exhibits her artwork nationally in juried and solo exhibitions.
She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2D art with a concentration in photography from Bowling Green State University, and a Master of Fine Arts in photography and digital imaging from the Maryland Institute College of Art.
