Southeast Missouri State Universitys River Campus announces the event lineup for a remarkable season of music, art, theater and dance during the 2021-22 season.
The 15th River Campus season invites patrons to enjoy a variety of visual and performing arts events by Southeasts departments of music, art and design, The Jeanine Larson Dobbins Conservatory of Theatre and Dance and the Rosemary Berkel and Harry L. Crisp II Museum.
Season tickets and renewals for next years season are now on sale to the public. Individual tickets will be on sale at 9 a.m. Aug. 23. This years season will continue to emphasize Southeasts students, showcasing their diverse talents and unique opportunities for audiences of all ages.
We are so proud and excited to present the 15th season of entertainment at the River Campus, said Rhonda Weller-Stilson, dean of Southeasts Holland College of Arts and Media. This momentous year will showcase a wonderful mix of classics and new and diverse perspectives. Our talented students continue to excel, performing and exhibiting outstanding work that will once again delight audiences of all ages.
Performances in The Jeanine Larson Dobbins Conservatory of Theatre and Dance Series, sponsored by Top of the Marq and Commerce Bank, will include Guys and Dolls, You Cant Take it With You, Fall for Dance 2021, Rodgers and Hammersteins Cinderella and Spring into Dance 2022.
The Theatre and Dance Series concludes with the 2021 Lanford Wilson New American Play Festival winner, The Romantic Movement by Emily Bohannon. The Festival, held for the first time in June 2021 at the River Campus, showcased original scripts for college theater programs, as there is a dearth of material with roles matching the demographics of these programs. The Romantic Movement chronicles the experience of high school students and college-aged resident assistants at a classical music camp in rural Florida during the summer of 1967.
The Cuba Financial Southeast Missouri Symphony Series celebrates its 21st anniversary with concerts throughout the year includes Gala Season Opener: Peter and the Wolf, Marvelous Melodies, Five Mystical Songs, and Tchaikovsky and Rachmaninoff.
Back again this year for music lovers and musical and dance enthusiasts is the Saint Francis Healthcare System Special Events Series, which offers three productions, including the Big Band Christmas Jukebox, ringing in the holiday season with jazzy classics; the Family Holiday Percussion Concert, an annual tradition to usher in the holidays; and Celebrate the Arts!, an evening featuring solo and ensemble pieces from Broadway musicals, jazz and classical music, and original dance.
Other special events to enchant audiences include The Conservatorys Extravaganza and the 12th Annual Fault Line Film Festival.
This season will also spotlight the work of student-artists, faculty, and local and regional guest artists in the Rosemary Berkel and Harry L. Crisp II Museum and the River Campus Art Gallery. The Museum will continue to offer crafting events and workshops throughout the season.
