PleinAir painting is done outdoors, and is historically afeature of French impressionism, said Ellen Flentge, curator of education, at Crisp Museum. It only takes an inspiration, a quick sketch, color mixing, and a simplified painting to capture the true brilliance of nature or attraction of a subject and more specifically, light. Each of those steps can contain tremendous amounts of knowledge.
Participants are encouraged to practice and paint outside of workshop hours, with additional assistance provided by the Museum Monday-Wednesday. Participants work will be shared during a critique at the beginning of each class.
The Crisp Museum is located in the Cultural Arts Center at Southeast Missouri State Universitys River Campus, located at 518 S. Fountain St. in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.
