Southeast Missouri State University invites its students, alumni, friends, faculty and staff to celebrate the Universitys 148th birthday while helping support a project and fill a need by participating in SEMO Giving Day on March 23.
Founded in 1873, Southeast has a proud history of excellence in education. First founded as a normal school and teachers college, the institution has grown into a comprehensive University with more than 150 academic programs in five colleges. To celebrate the University, SEMO Giving Day offers an opportunity to give back to the campus and make an impact on future Redhawks.
The University will launch a one-day campaign via social media (#InvestInTheNest), email and phone, inviting participants to help raise funds for 12 projects directly benefitting students on campus. As one Southeast community, donors can make a difference across campus, meet multiple needs and support student success.
The generosity of our Southeast community our alumni and friends across the country; our faculty, staff and students; and businesses throughout the region is incredibly important to the University, said Dr. Trudy Lee, vice president of University Advancement and executive director of the Southeast Missouri University Foundation. Private donations fund scholarships, programs, projects, technology and facilities in all areas across campus. We are so grateful that so many support Southeast through their charitable giving. SEMO Giving Day is 24 hours when we come together as a University community and family to celebrate the contributions of many who give a little to make a big difference.
Donors can give online atgivingday.semo.edu. Southeast Missouri University Foundation staff and Annual Fund student representatives, and University staff and faculty will be calling alumni and friends throughout the day.
Additionally, throughout the day, the Universitys Facebook page will showcase videos of Southeast faculty and staff directly involved in each of this years featured projects. Donors can also tune in to learn more and receive updates on each projects funding goals.
