Southeast Missouri State Universitys River Campus Sundays at Three series continues Sept. 27 with an afternoon featuring Southeast Department of Music alumni of the last two decades who will perform string, woodwind and brass numbers.
Featuring Southeast Alumni will take place at 3 p.m. in the Robert F. and Gertrude L. Shuck Recital Hall at Southeasts River Campus. Face coverings will be required, and social distancing guidelines will be in place. Due to capacity limits, patrons are encouraged to reserve their seats early.
The performers have a variety of careers within the music field including freelance performers, teachers, school music educators and college professors, said Dr. Gabrielle Baffoni, series director and associate professor of single reeds at Southeast.
The event will include performances by Southeast graduates Dr. Brooke DeArman on trumpet, Ken DeArman on trombone, Jordan Redd on horn, Matt Yount, Tyson Wunderlich and Christy Roethemeyer-Shinn on piano, Monet Royal on violin, and Rebecca Hill on clarinet.
The DeArmans will join Redd to perform the Francis Poulenc Sonata for Horn, Trumpet and Trombone, as well as movements from solo works with Yount and Wunderlich.
Royal will perform two of Max Bruchs Eight Pieces for Clarinet, Viola and Piano with Hill and Yount. On clarinet, Hill will also perform some solo repertoires with accompaniment by Roethemeyer-Shinn.
The idea to host an alumni-centered concert was born, Baffoni said, through a conversation with Southeasts collaborative pianist Matt Yount, a 2001 and 2003 graduate of Southeasts Department of Music.
We wanted a chance to showcase our former students and welcome them back to the Southeast campus, Baffoni said.
