Mental Landscapes, an exhibition of sculptural works by Jennifer Torres, will be on display Sept. 4-25 at Southeast Missouri State Universitys Catapult Creative House.
Torres work explores issues of equality, social and environmental justice. Torres was born in Queens, New York, and spent her childhood in Teaneck, New Jersey. She completed four years of studio training at the Art Students League in New York City, and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art. As a student, she focused on steel fabrication, casting, woodworking and photography.
Mental Landscapes opens Friday, Sept. 4 from 5-9 p.m. The exhibition is free and open to the public.
Visitors are welcome to tour the entire Catapult facilities including the Southeast Missouri State University Department of Art and Design students studios upstairs, which will feature digital work by Southeast senior Matthew Breeden.
In addition, Catapult visitors are also invited to browse the merchandise in the Shoppe, which features student work and local business products.
Face coverings will be required, and social distancing guidelines will be in place.
