Three graduate students have published award-winning scholarly work in recent months. Each was mentored by the Department of Englishs Margaret Atwood expert, Dr. Debrah Raschke, professor of English.
Janna Harner, a May 2019 graduate, won the 2019 Margaret Atwood Society Award for Best Graduate Essay/MA Thesis for her thesis chapter, Inherited Radicalism in The Handmaids Tale.
Brittni Cebulak, a second-year English graduate student, won Literatis 2020 Best Essay Contest for Lost in Shadow: A Lacanian Analysis of Inspector Javert. Literati is a student-publication sponsored by the Department of English.
Margaret Fruehwirth, a second-year English graduate student, published her essay Wendigone but Not Forgotten, in the peer-reviewed journal, Margaret Atwood Studies. Previously, the essay won the 2018 Margaret Atwood Society Award for Best Undergraduate Essay.
