University Marketing along with students at Southeast Missouri State University brought home several local ADDY Awards Feb. 19 at the annual American Advertising Awards Show at the Drury Plaza Hotel in Cape Girardeau.University Marketing won a Bronze and two Silver awards as the American Advertising Federation-Cape Girardeau recognized the best in local advertising creativity. The department won Silver ADDY awards for its SEMO Visit Pack in the Sales Kit or Product Information Sheets category and for its Financial Aid Award piece in the Flat Single Unit category. The department also won a Bronze ADDY award for its SEMO Viewbook in the Single Unit category.These three awards are a testament to the immense talents of the creative team we have working to help students navigate the college admission process through our visit materials, publications and student financial aid information, said Tonya Wells, director of University Marketing. Were excited their work was recognized and thrilled to see some of the students on our team also earn well deserved ADDY Awards.[caption id="attachment_35428" align="alignright" width="300"]
From left are Southeast students Amy Grandidier, Mikayla Kuhlmann, Nikki Peters and Ally Bruemmer with their Gold ADDY award.[/caption]The Southeast entries were among 139 print, digital and multi-media advertising projects created by area advertising professionals between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31, 2019, that were considered in this years competition.In addition, 11 Southeast mass media, marketing and art student entries were honored with three Gold, a Best of Show, four Silver and four Bronze awards.We are very proud of the students, said Michael Simmons, Southeast instructor of mass media. The students start with real clients and do the design and production. It is completely and totally their work. They worked with real clients, in real events and scenarios, and got real, hands-on experiences.We are so excited for our students, said Louise Bodenheimer, Southeast professor and area head of graphic design and illustration. This is a great collaborative class between graphic artists and marketing students, and its always wonderful to see them work together. They did very creative work with real clients, and their experiences here shape and prepare them for opportunities after graduation.We would like to thank our clients, Gearheads Auto Repair and Lee Chiropractic Center, both of Jackson, Missouri, for their support of Southeast students and the cause of experiential learning, Bodenheimer added.[caption id="attachment_35429" align="alignleft" width="300"]
