The Hult Prize, one of the worlds most prestigious accelerator programs taking place this fall at Southeast Missouri State University, has announced this years challenge will be Bold Businesses for a Better Planet.
The Hult Prize is an annual, year-long competition that crowd-sources ideas from graduate and undergraduate students after challenging them to solve a pressing social issue around topics. Southeasts Douglas C. Greene Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship will host the Universitys competition Nov. 6.
Interested students in teams of three are encouraged to create startup businesses, using the topic as inspiration, that have a positive impact on the planet with every sale completed, dollar earned and decision made. The Hult Prize community aims to replace every industry on the planet with a better version of itself. The challenge topic coincides with the 50th anniversary of Earth Day in 2020 and the 75th anniversary of the United Nations.
Teams must submit their team name and an executive summary or three-minute video of their business pitch by Nov. 1. Teams that register by Oct. 3 will be entered into a raffle for a prize. Additionally, the first 10 teams to register will be awarded a prize. Prize raffles will also be held for teams that register by Oct. 8, 15, 22 and 29.
Teams interested in participating are encouraged to attend informational meetings and Hult Prize events on campus, where additional prizes will be awarded for attendance and participation.
