The Axiom Quartet will perform a concert in the Chateau Girardeau Sundays at Three series at 3 p.m. Oct. 27 in the Robert F. and Gertrude L. Shuck Music Recital Hall on the River Campus of Southeast Missouri State University.The Axiom Quartet was formed in 2012 and features two violinists, a violist and a cellist. The group has performed sold-out concerts internationally. In 2018, the quartet released its first album, AXIOMS: Moments of Truth. Their performance at Southeast is part of the quartets Midwest tour.A proudly Houston-based string quartet whose music is as diverse as its native city, the Axiom Quartet is known for curating concerts that mix traditional string quartet repertoire, classical transcriptions, new compositions with popular rock, electronic, indie, jazz and pop genres.Im so excited to bring Axiom Quartet to the University and Cape Girardeau, said Dr. Gabrielle Baffoni, assistant professor of single reeds at Southeast. The program will represent the groups signature eclectic style. Tchaikovskys String Quartet No. 1 will be presented, along with Axiom, a work composed for the ensemble by Houston composer Karl Blench; Gabriela Franks Leyendas; and a version of Insight by electronic music composer and producer Haywyre.
