The Rosemary Berkel and Harry L. Crisp II Museum at Southeast Missouri State Universitys River Campus is hosting a presentation of Attunement of a Reiki Practitioner Sept. 5 as part of the Museums book study discussion of The Spirit Almanac: A Modern Guide to Ancient Self-Care by Emma Loewe and Lindsay Kellner.
The talk will be presented byJohn Abernathy, a second level reiki practitioner from Farrar, Missouri,at 7 p.m. in the Museum.
In his talk, Abernathy will tell about his personal journey in becoming a reiki practitioner. Reiki is a form of alternative medicine called energy healing, and practitioners use a technique of placing hands lightly on or over a patient’s body to encourage emotional or physical healing.
Book study organizers hope that by studying The Spirit Almanac, participants will embark on a journey into the understanding of oneself and spirit, and make it a priority to reserve moments of personal time to take care of themselves with their own transformational practice. It is hoped the book will offer readers new insights on becoming aware of personal realizations, feelings of calmness and gratitude.
Monthly meetings are free and are held the first Thursday of every month at 7 p.m. at the Museum. Participants are encouraged to learn, share and discuss their personal understanding, discoveries, interpretations and decisions related to a variety of seasonal content. Additional guest speakers will be presenting overviews of the ancient uses of crystals, herbs, essential oils, astrology, tarot, meditation and breathing.
Progression of the book is seasonal and participants can begin the book group at any time of the year. Preregistration and purchasing The Sprit Almanac is required
