Southeast Missouri State Universitys will host the annual Missouri International Educators Meeting (MIEM) June 17-18 for professionals and students interested in international education.
MIEM, sponsored by the National Association of Foreign Student Affairs (NAFSA): Association of International Educators, will consist of training opportunities, engaged learning and dynamic networking.
The two-day meeting is open to faculty, staff and administrators from all education levels in Missouri and the surrounding states, said Dr. Kevin Timlin, executive director of Southeasts International Education and Services.
The Missouri International Educators Meeting is a great opportunity to learn about and discuss the issues pertaining to international students and education, he said. This is particularly a good opportunity for any new professionals to get experience in a welcoming environment. We also want to encourage early and high school educators to consider attending because weve seen an increased interest from international students coming to the United States earlier, before college.

Pre-conference workshops on June 17 will include information about student advising methods and understanding international credentials. A full day of content-rich sessions and open discussions will take place June 18.

The open forums will provide a great opportunity for participants to share and discuss best practices in the field and with students, Timlin said.
