WyKeshia Atkins has been named president-elect of the Heartland Chapter of the College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA).
WyKeshia Atkins, director of learning assistance programs with Southeast Missouri State Universitys Academic Support Centers, has been named president-elect of the Heartland Chapter of the College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA). Atkins will serve as president-elect for one year. She will then transition to president of the chapter.The College Reading and Learning Association is a very distinguished national organization with several regional chapters, and I am excited to lead the Heartland Chapter and continue to network with professionals who have done phenomenal work in academic support and learning assistance, Atkins said.CRLA (formerly WCRLA) is a group of student-oriented professionals active in the fields of reading, learning assistance, developmental education, tutoring and mentoring at the college and adult levels. CRLAs most vital function and overall purpose is to provide a forum for the interchange of ideas, methods, and information to improve student learning and to facilitate the professional growth of its members. The Heartland Chapter includes Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska and Oklahoma.[caption id="attachment_33039" align="alignright" width="300"]

She brings her experience at every level to the executive committee of the organization, and we are excited for her leadership and this new opportunity she has taken.Atkins has been active with the CRLA and the Heartland Chapter throughout her professional and pre-professional career and is looking forward to this opportunity.The Heartland Chapter consists of members who serve in faculty, staff and administrator roles at various institutions across the region, Atkins said. As president-elect and president, I look forward to expanding my knowledge base on the critical work of the field, as well as strengthen my work as an administrator at Southeast.
