The Office of Military and Veterans Services (OMVS) atSoutheast Missouri State University will host a Veteran Benefits Workshop April29 for Southeast veterans and alumni, and local community veterans and theirfamilies.
The workshop is scheduled from 1-4 p.m. in the UniversityCenter Room 302, located at 388 Henderson Ave. on Southeast main campus. Theworkshop is free and open to the public, and no appointments are necessary.
The workshop is an opportunity for veterans to receiveone-on-one assistance and gain the confidence that their benefits are beingprocessed properly, said Amanda Woods, Militaryand Veterans Services officer and Veterans Administration (VA) certifyingofficial with Southeasts OMVS.
This is a great opportunity to provide services and support to our Southeast and local community veterans and their families who need help and access to these resources, she said. Navigating through these processes can be difficult, but we are excited to host several subject matter experts from various Veteran-specific organizations who can provide their knowledge and assistance."
During the workshop, veterans and their families will havethe opportunity to meet with representatives from the Missouri Veterans Commission,the Missouri Division of Workforce Development, the Department of VeteransAffairs and Southern Catholic Charities. Services and support include filing for disability and compensation requests or appeals,VA healthcare enrollment, career readiness and employment assistance, andgeneral services and resources information.
OMVS will also provide free foodand beverages.
