SoutheastMissouri State University will celebrate the criminal justice field with avariety of activities and guest speakers during Criminal Justice Week April24-25.
The Department of Criminal Justice, Social Work and Sociology will host demonstrations, a Q&A panel, and an agency appreciation banquet as part of the festivities. Local agencies including the Cape Girardeau Police Department and Missouri Highway Patrol will provide the University community and students with interactive and educational opportunities to learn about the criminal justice field and careers.
Theevents during Criminal Justice Week provide an opportunity to showcase both thework of local and regional practitioners as well as issues they grapple withwhen protecting the local, state, regional, national and even internationalcommunities, said Dr. Karl Kunkel, chair of the Department of CriminalJustice, Social Work and Sociology. The line-up offers a tremendous learningopportunity as the campus engages with the community. In particular, ourstudents get insight into the work these agencies perform on a daily basis. Isee this as an excellent opportunity for students considering careers in thecriminal justice field.
