Southeast Missouri State Universitys Fifth Annual Spring Wildflower Walk will be held at the Charles Nemanick Alternative Agriculture Garden on Thursday, May 2.
The Spring Wildflower Walk is scheduled from 4-5:30 p.m. and is free and open to the public. This event was rescheduled from April 18.
The walk is an opportunity for the Southeast and local community to see native plants blooming and learn about their life cycle and history. The Spring Wildflower Walk is sponsored by the Department of Agriculture and the Southeast Horticulture Club to promote local gardening and address garden visitors plant questions.
The walk provides anopportunity for the campus and local community to learn about our native springwildflowers, said Dr. Sven Svenson, professor of agriculture at Southeast. Duringthe Spring Wildflower Walk, we identify the many plant species that naturally growhere in southeast Missouri and include information about the plants care andcontribution to the environment. There are usually several native plant andspring flower experts present to answer questions and share information aboutthe plants.

Additionally, visitors willlearn about the Nemanick Garden and the Charles Hutson Horticulture Greenhouse.
Aside from providinginformation about the native spring wildflowers that grow in the area, we alsohope to raise awareness of the existence of the Nemanick Garden and the Hutson Greenhouse, and to share some of our future goals for the location, Svenson said.
