Nilsen Visiting Writer Series to Bring Short Story Author to Southeast

Short story author Dr. ErinFlanagan will perform a public reading of her work on Wednesday, May 1, at SoutheastMissouri State University as part of the Dorothy and Wedel Nilsen VisitingWriters Series.

Flanagans presentation isscheduled from 7-8 p.m. at Southeasts Catapult Creative House, 612 Broadway indowntown Cape Girardeau.

The event is free and open tothe public and is funded by the Dorothy and Wedel Nilsen Visiting WritersSeries and the Southeast Missouri State University Press.

A book signing will followthe reading, and books will be available for purchase at the event.

The Nilsen Visiting WriterProgram brings a successful writer to campus each semester to talk withstudents about the crafts of writing and editing.

Flanagan is a professor ofEnglish at Wright State University and the author of two short story collections,The Usual Mistakes and Its Not Going to Kill You and Other Stories, bothpublished by the University of Nebraska Press. Her stories have appeared in numerouspublications, including The Missouri Review, Colorado Review, The SouthernReview and Prairie Schooner. She has held fellowships with Yaddo, The MacDowellColony, UCross and the Bread Loaf and Sewanee Writers Conferences.
