Fifth House Ensemble will perform Americana in the final concert inthe 2018-2019 Sundays at Three series on April 28 at Southeast Missouri StateUniversitys River Campus.
The concert is scheduled for 3 p.m. in the Robert F. and Gertrude L.Shuck Music Recital Hall.
Chicago-based Fifth House Ensemble is an innovative professionalchamber ensemble that combines outstanding performance with civic engagementand outreach. Fifth House Ensemble harnesses the collaborative spirit of chamber music to reachbeyond the traditionally-perceived limits of classical music.
As part ofits program, entitled Americana, the Fifth House Ensemble showcasescontemporary American piano trios by Stacy Garrop, Dan Visconti, Donald Crockettand Paul Schoenfield, which are rich with inspirations of film noir, jazz, popand folk songs. The program also features Costa Rican artist, Angela Bermdez, whohas created a stunning visual narrative to showcase these works, eachrepresenting the wildly diverse music of our time with their own unique aurallandscape. The four vignettes will explore the ineffable American spirit,unbound by tradition, and what it means to be American.
Fifth Houses visit will also include a brief residency with masterclassesand workshops for Southeast students.
