Classic ‘RENT’ Brings Rock Musical to River Campus May 6

The Pulitzer Prize and TonyAward-winning RENT will close Southeast Missouri State Universitys 2018-2019Bank of Missouri Touring Series at 7:30 p.m. May 6 in the Donald C. BedellPerformance Hall at Southeasts River Campus.

With its inspiring messageof joy and hope in the face of fear, this timeless celebration of friendshipand creativity will inspire audiences to measure our lives with the only thingthat truly matterslove, said Bob Cerchio, assistant director of SoutheastsEarl and Margie Holland College of Arts and Media.

In 1996, an original rockmusical by Jonathan Larson opened on Broadway entertaining audiences withportrayal of love and tragedy. The musical transformed the landscape ofAmerican theatre. Two decades later, Larsons RENT continues to speak loudlyto audiences across generations and the globe, and returns to the stage in alively 20th anniversary touring production.

Its thrilling to bring thismajor entertainment event to the River Campus, Cerchio said.
