Bequest Establishes Dewain Earl Brucker Scholarship Fund for Ag Students at Southeast

Dewain Earl Brucker loved all things agriculture, so much sothat he bequeathed his entire trust to the Southeast Missouri UniversityFoundation so Southeast Missouri State University agriculture students canpursue the same career path that brought him a lifetime of joy.

Brucker, formerly of Chaffee, Missouri, passed away on Aug.11, 2018, at the age of 59. Since then, the Dewain Earl Brucker ScholarshipFund has been established to create a renewable scholarship for Southeastagriculture students.

The bequest was announced April 5 during SoutheastsAgriculture Honors Banquet hosted by Southeasts Department of Agriculture.Department Chair Julie Weathers honored Bruckers generosity by presenting hismother, Clara of Jackson, Missouri, with a plaque recognizing her sonssignificant gift.

Dewain loved agriculture and animals, and he left awonderful legacy to our department, Weathers said. Through his generosity,generations of students will find the financial support they need to pursuetheir higher education goals as they prepare to launch successful careers inagriculture. On behalf of the department, I would like to express our heartfeltgratitude for this extraordinary gift. To commemorate this extraordinary gift,Dewains photo of his farm will hang in our departments office.

The Dewain Brucker Scholarship will be awarded in accordancewith his wishes expressed in his trust to students pursing a degree in a fieldrelated to the production, preservation and management of farm land and animalhusbandry, with preferences given for students from Scott County and thesoutheast Missouri region. A minimum 2.0 grade point average is required, andthe Department of Agriculture Scholarship Committee will select the recipients.

Brucker was the son of Earl Joseph and Clara Anita EssnerBrucker. He is survived by his mother.
