More than 140 employers will be on hand to meet students at Southeast Missouri State Universitys 2019 Spring Career Expo, sponsored by Career Services, March 7 at the Student Recreation Center.
The event, scheduled for 10 a.m.-2 p.m., will provide a variety of opportunities to students in search of employment and professional skill development.
Employers representing the local, regional, national and international spectrum will be attending the event, including Cushman & Wakefield, DHL Supply Chain, FS Growmark Systems, Mehlville and Rockwood school districts, Osborn Barr/Paramore, Sherwin Williams, SSM Health, Stifel Financial, UniGroup, Unilever and Vanliner Insurance.
Each employer in attendance is visiting Southeast to recruit our students. These employers want to hire Southeast students, and they are looking for great candidates, said Dan Presson, director of Southeasts Career Services. The Career Expo allows our students to network with employers and learn about opportunities without leaving campus. Additionally, students who may be nervous about networking have the opportunity to practice their hand-shaking, conversation skills, eye contact and pitch skills before graduating.
Students are expected to attend the Career Expo prepared to interact with their future employer. Business attire is required upon entry and resumes are expected by almost every employer. Students who need business attire should check the Career Closet, located in the Redhawk Food Pantry in Kent Library Room 123. This is a free resource for students who find purchasing business attire costly.
The Office of Career Services offers a variety of events throughout the semester that are designed to equip students for success. Career Services can help students with cover letters and resumes. They offer services such as mock interviews and Walk-In Wednesdays for students who want to improve their professional skills.
