Youth Mental Health First Aid Training Planned

The Southeast Prevention Resource Center is hosting Youth Mental Health First Aid trainings sessions. Participants can choose from one of two sessions and must register by the corresponding deadline:

  • Monday, Dec. 10, in the University Center Redhawks Room, registration deadline is Dec. 3.
  • Tuesday, Dec. 11, in the University Center Redhawks Room, registration deadline is Dec. 4.

All training sessions will be held from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Participants only need to attend one of the sessions.

There is no cost to attend a training. Lunch is provided. To register or for more information, contact Nikki Wolfe at nwolfe@semo.edu.

Youth Mental Health First Aid teaches a five-step action plan to offer initial help to young people showing signs of a mental illness or in a crisis and connect them with the appropriate professional, peer, social or self-help care. Anyone can take the course, but it is ideally designed for adults who work with young people ages 12-18: teachers, coaches, leaders of faith communities, social workers and other caring citizens.

Nationally, the course is valued at $170. Because of a generous sponsorship by the Missouri Department of Mental Health, there is no cost to attend these sessions.
