Southeast Missouri State University's Department of Physics and Engineering Physics welcomed 11 new students to its Sigma Pi Sigma Physics Honor Society during an induction ceremony held May 1. This years induction class is the largest group in the 49 years of the local chapters history at Southeast.This year's inductees included 10 physics majors:Jordan Duncan, Samuel Fincher, Samantha Hasler, Tyler Howard, Nicole Masters, Benjamin Nielsen, Heath Parkinson, Austin Patek, Emilia Schempp and Blake Trickey; and one mathematics major, Arham Chowdury, who has demonstrated a strong interest in theoretical physics."It is a great honor to welcome such a strong group of students to the society, saidDr. Jonathan Kessler, Southeast assistant professor of physics and engineering physics, and presiding officer and locally inducted member of Sigma Pi Sigma.During the ceremony, Southeast alumna and Sigma Pi Sigma member Stephanie Howard gave a presentation titled Spacecraft and the Plasma Physics They Accomplish.
