Show Me Day at Southeast Missouri State University offers prospective students and their families a structured opportunity to experience campus life and academic programs firsthand.
Prospective students and their parents are invited to attend Show Me Day on Saturday, April 7, on the campus of Southeast Missouri State University. Show Me Day provides an opportunity for individuals interested in the University to explore campus and learn about the range of academic programs and student services available. According to Lenell Hahn, director of Admissions, students can learn about Southeast’s admission process, meet faculty from academic departments, and interact with current students as they experience the University’s vibrant and growing campus community.
The day begins with check-in at 9:30 a.m. in the Show Me Center, followed by a Student Life Fair from 9:30 to 10 a.m., where participants can meet representatives from areas such as Campus Ministries, Career Services, Dining Services, Greek Life, Academic Support Centers, Residence Life, and the Honors Program. At 10 a.m., the director of Admissions will deliver an opening presentation and introduce admissions staff and student leaders, and prospective students will have the chance to meet Southeast’s Redhawks mascot, Rowdy. An Academic Fair will follow in the east gym of the Student Recreation Center, featuring informational displays from the University’s academic departments.
After the Academic Fair, prospective students may attend sessions on financing their education, living on campus, diversity and inclusion, and transferring to Southeast. The formal program will conclude with a campus tour and the opportunity to have lunch in Towers Café, where guests can experience the University’s award-winning dining facilities. Hahn notes that the goal is for visitors to obtain enough information throughout the day to feel confident in their decision when choosing Southeast.
From 1 to 3 p.m., several special events will be available for those who wish to learn more about specific programs, including open houses for the Department of Art, College of Education, Department of History, Department of Polytechnic Studies, Harrison College of Business departments of Accounting, Economics and Finance, and Management and Marketing, the Jane Stephens Honors Program, the Rust Center for Media, and the Catapult Creative House. Tours of the River Campus and Greek Hill will also be offered after lunch. Prospective attendees may register online and contact the Office of Admissions for additional information or questions about the event.
