The Southeast Missouri State University debate team hosted the Larry Underberg Redhawk Rumble Feb. 23-24, competing in public forum and policy debate.Southeast was represented by five teams. Students debated whether the U.S. federal government should provide free college tuition to all its citizens. The teams brought home awards for first, second and third place finishes.I am proud of the team's hard work and dedication, said Avery Henry, director of SEMO Debate. The team did well in all the divisions and we are looking forward to the national tournament in March.The tournament was attended by teams from Anderson University, Ball State University, Indiana University Purdue University-Indianapolis (IUPUI) and the University of Dayton.The team of junior Jasmine Jones of Florissant, Missouri, and freshman Sara Mullinix of Wildwood, Missouri, finished first in the novice division in public forum.Sophomore Taylor Looney of Imperial, Missouri, finished second in varsity public forum.Junior Grace Lester of Wildwood, Missouri, earned third place speaker.
