Southeast Missouri State Universitys online bachelors and masters degree programs have been ranked this week among the nations 2018 Best Online Programs by U.S. News & World Report.
Southeasts online bachelors degree program ranked nationally from 1,490 online degree programs U.S. News assessed. Also ranked by U.S. News this week are Southeasts online MBA program and its online graduate programs in business, criminal justice and education.
Online programs at Southeast offer students an avenue for pursuing and completing their degrees via the Internet. Southeast Online strives to provide a unique, accredited learning experience and educational opportunities to individuals who are not able to attend classes on campus.
Southeast Online is committed to providing a quality distance education experience, said Chelsea Caile McNeely, director of Southeasts Online Programs. The evidence of quality is displayed in the rich experiences carried out in our virtual classrooms. The recognition by U.S. News validates Southeast as a national industry leader in online education.
U.S. News assessed schools based on four general categories: student engagement, faculty credentials and training, student services and technology, and peer reputation. Additionally, individual graduate programs were also assessed on a fifth category, admissions selectivity. These factors were selected in order to weigh how a schools programs are being delivered and their effectiveness at awarding affordable degrees in a reasonable amount of time.
A driving force behind the programs success is the support of the University faculty and staff, McNeely said.
The virtual learning environment weve built is supported by faculty who are enthusiastically and innovatively trying to find ways to meet students where they are, geographically and cognitively, and by the staff of Southeast Online who are dedicated to ensuring online students have access to the same quality resources as those students on our main campus.
Additionally, the programs offer affordability and flexibility for working professionals and part-time students. Students pay one tuition rate, regardless of in-state or out-of-state status, can receive course credit or competency credit for previous education and professional experiences, and earn a degree on their own schedule, added McNeely.
Southeast offers more than 30 academic programs online for undergraduate, graduate and specialist degrees and specialized certificates. Online bachelors degree programs offered at Southeast include Bachelors of Science in nursing, healthcare management, healthcare administration, computer information systems, technology management, criminal justice, business administration, family studies, and interdisciplinary studies, and a Bachelor of General Studies. Online Bachelors of Arts are offered in psychology and social science. Online Master of Arts program are offered in applied behavior analysis, elementary education, elementary or secondary school administration, exceptional child education, secondary education, Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages and teacher leadership. Southeasts online Master of Science programs are available in criminal justice, healthcare management, management and technology management. Also offered online are the Master of Arts in exceptional child education; Master of Arts in Teaching in exceptional education; Master of Business Administration in general management, health administration and sport management; and the Master of Public Administration.
Today, Southeast is a leader in the delivery of online programming in the state of Missouri, with more than 1,500 students pursuing a degree completely online.
