Dr. L. Alee Moore, director of field education and an instructor in Southeast Missouri State Universitys Department of Social Work, has been selected to serve on the Council on Social Work Educations (CSWE) License and Regulation Task Force.

It is an honor to be selected to serve with national associations that represent social work education and regulation, Moore said. It will be a privilege to work alongside a diverse group of distinguished social work faculty members and practice experts from around the country.

CSWEs License and Regulation Task Force will develop specialized practice competencies and curricular resources for licensing and regulation.Faculty members and practice experts from social work programs across the nation have been invited to participate and create theCurricular Guide for Licensing and Regulation. This curricular guide, sponsored by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) and the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) Risk Retention Group, Inc. in collaboration with CSWE, will serve as a national resource for social work programs and will be disseminated to all CSWE accredited programs.

As a supporter of licensing and regulation standards for safe and professional social work practice, Moore hopes to provide knowledge to the curricular guide that protects the public and the integrity of the profession.

My expertise includes presentations on competencies for social work practitioners and research that has implications for the regulation of professional social work practice, she said.

The CSWE task force will ultimately play a critical role in social work program accreditation, added Moore.

It is important that students understand and embrace licensure as an integral part of their professional development, she said. The curricular resources created from this effort will be part of the Educational Policy and Accreditation Standards Curricular Guide Resource Series and provide tools that can enhance the learning experience of students at CSWE accredited programs across the nation. That includes Southeast.

Moore earned a doctorate in workforce development and organizational leadership and a Master of Social Work with a concentration in administrative practice and planning both from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). She completed her Bachelor of Science in social work from Southern University and A & M College. She has experience as an adjunct instructor and licensed social workpractitionerin the areas of school social work, health, and aging. Her research highlights human resource development issues through the social work lens. Her primary interests are talent acquisition and development, performance standards, andcompetency modelling.
