The Southeast Missouri State University Board of Regents will consider academic department restructurings when it meets at 9 a.m. Dec. 15 in the Board of Regents Room in Academic Hall.The first proposal calls for dissolving the Department of Modern Languages, Anthropology and Geography, and merging a portion of it into the existing Department of History, to create a newly named Department of History and Anthropology. It also calls for merging the remaining portion into the existing Department of Communication Studies, to create a newly named Department of Communication Studies and Modern Languages.The Regents also will consider a second proposal to merge the Department of Criminal Justice and Sociology with the Department of Social Work to create a new Department of Criminal Justice, Social Work and Sociology.The Board will consider approving a new Bachelor of Applied Science in Applied Technology program, and new options in agriculture communications and agriculture systems management on the Bachelor of Science in Agribusiness.Also to be considered are the acceptance of annual audits from Rubin Brown for the year ending June 30. These include the annual financial report, the A-133 Single Audit Report on the schedule of expenditures of federal awards and the System Facilities Financial Report.The Regents will consider Board of Managers reappointments for the Show Me Center, Missouri Innovation Center and River Campus; a resolution reauthorizing the treasurer to execute grant agreements with the Federal Transit Administration or Missouri Department of Transportation; Faculty Senate Bill 17-A-18 on the Academic Program Review Policy; revised policy statements on investments in the Business Policies and Procedures Manual; and conferring of degrees for fall 2017.The Regents will hear the Presidents Report; the NCAA Independent Auditors Report on Agreed Upon Procedures; progress report on contracts and Facilities Management projects; a student presentation by Adrianna Murphy, a member of the womens basketball team; a Student Government Association update from Student Government President Peyton Mogley; and a presentation on grant funding and sponsored programs from Pam Vargas, director of Research and Grant Development.The Board will then consider a motion to go into a closed session for appropriate considerations related to litigation and the hiring, firing, disciplining or promotion of employees.When the open session reconvenes, the Board will announce actions taken in closed and a closed executive session.
