Poet William Trowbridge will perform a public reading of his work on Wednesday, Oct. 11, at Southeast Missouri State University.The reading, scheduled for 7-8 p.m. in Crisp Hall, Room 125, is free and open to the public, and is funded by the Dorothy and Wedel Nilsen Visiting Writers Series and the Southeast Missouri State University Press.Trowbridges seventh poetry collection, Vanishing Point, was published by Red Hen Press in April 2017. His graphic chapbook, Oldguy: Superhero, came out from Red Hen in 2016. His other collections are Put This On, Please: New and Selected Poems, Ship of Fool, The Complete Book of Kong, Flickers, O Paradise and Enter Dark Stranger. He is a faculty mentor in the University of Nebraska Omaha Low-Residency MFA in Writing Program and was Poet Laureate of Missouri from 2012 to 2016.Hispoems have appeared in more than 30 anthologies and textbooks, as well as in such periodicals asPoetry,The Gettysburg Review,Crazyhorse,The Georgia Review,Boulevard,The Southern Review,Columbia,Colorado Review,The Iowa Review,Prairie Schooner,Epoch andNew Letters. He has given readings and workshops at schools, colleges, bookstores, and literary conferences throughout the United States. His awards include an Academy of American Poets Prize,aPushcartPrize,a Bread Loaf Writers Conference scholarship, a Camber Press Poetry Chapbook Award and fellowships from The MacDowell Colony, Ragdale, Yaddo and The Anderson Center.A book signing will follow the reading, and books will be available for purchase at the event.
