Southeast students will enter Houck Field on the north side, where the first 500 will receive an eclipse-themed glow-in-the-dark T-shirt. Faculty and staff may enter from gates on either the north or south side. Visitors will enter from the main gate on the south side of the stadium. Eclipse glasses will be distributed to all for safe viewing, while supplies last, and water will be available. Concessions will be open from 11:15 a.m.-2 p.m.
Faculty, staff, students and visitors entering on the south side of the Stadium will be directed to sit in sections E and F. Visiting schools will sit in sections A-D. Visiting students and teachers participating in the CORE Academy as part of the high-altitude weather balloon launch will sit in sections G-I. A cooling station and medical services will be available in the basement of William A. and Christene Merick Hall, accessible from either Houck Field or the main entrance of Merick. The station will be staffed by Campus Health Clinic employees and members of the Universitys Athletic Training staff to assist anyone in need.
At 1 p.m., Southeast President Carlos Vargas along with worldwide science icon Dr. Michio Kaku will welcome the Southeast community, local community members and students to Houck Field to witness the solar eclipse totality. Totality is expected to begin at 1:20:21 PM (CDT) and last for one minute and 45 seconds.
