Lt. Col Anthony J. Anderson has been assigned as the new commander of Aerospace Studies, Detachment 205, Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFROTC), leading Air Force ROTC cadets enrolled at Southeast Missouri State University.I am truly honored to be the new commander of AFROTC Detachment 205 and very excited to be a part of the Southeast campus and Cape Girardeau communities, said Anderson.Anderson, who will also serve as a professor of aerospace studies, will lead detachment personnel in the development of Air Force officers for the U.S. Air Force.Anderson previously served as a Space Operations Branch Chief in the Space and Missile Defense Division at United States Strategic Command at Offutt Air Force Base, Nebraska.He holds a masters degree in education and leadership from Touro International University, and a Bachelor of Science in aerospace science from Oklahoma State University. He has studied at Air University and the National Defense University. His awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal with one oak leaf cluster, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Air Force Commendation Medal with one oak leaf cluster, the Joint Meritorious Unit Award with three oak leaf clusters, and the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with two oak leaf clusters.Anderson noted that the University has been extremely supportive and committed to the program since its formation 45 years ago in 1972.I want to thank everyone for the work they are doing each and every day at this great University, he said. I am looking forward to seeing the program grow and commissioning a diverse group of young men and women for our great country.Southeast AFROTC cadets are under operational control of Detachment 205, located at Southern Illinois University-Carbondale.
