On Friday, July 14, the Chamber Institute faculty will present a recital in the Robert F. and Gertrude L. Shuck Music Recital Hall. This concert will include music for winds, strings, brass and piano by Brahms, Schubert and Debussy. Highlights of the program will include Schuberts Trout Quintet and a selection of fiddle tunes by Cape Girardeau violin virtuoso Liesl Schoenberger. The concert is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m.
The Southeast Orchestral and Chamber Music Institute will then conclude its weeklong program of chamber music studies with a performance on Saturday, July 15, featuring student chamber music ensembles and full symphony orchestra. The traditional chamber ensemble concert will begin at 2 p.m. in the Robert F. and Gertrude L. Shuck Music Recital Hall, and will include music by Dvorak and Mozart.
The full symphony orchestra concert begins later that afternoon at 3:30 p.m. in the Donald C. Bedell Performance Hall. This concert will feature selections by American composers as well as a specially arranged work by Southeast professor of composition Robert Fruehwald.
The Southeast Orchestral and Chamber Music Institute provides an intensive and musically rewarding summer program for intermediate to advanced musicians, ranging in age from 12 to 23. The faculty is drawn from Southeasts Department of Music and also includes special guest artists. The Institute Director is Paul Thompson.
