Competing were Nibesh Amatya of Bhaktapur, Nepal; Jarred Banning of Salem, Illinois; Omar Dawood of Dhaka, Bangladesh; Harman Malhi of New Delhi, India; Samantha Rupp of Florissant, Missouri; and Julia Van De Sandt of Goch, Germany.
Van De Sandt was named a Top Ten Finalist in the Travel and Tourism competition, and she also won the Best Role Play award for the Travel and Tourism event. In addition, Banning was the Exam Winner in the Banking and Financial Services competition. The Southeast students participated in a field of more than 1,000 outstanding competitors from colleges and universities in the United States and Canada.
As part of its commitment to experiential learning, the Department of Management and Marketing in the Harrison College of Business has sponsored Collegiate DECA for several years, and each year sends numerous participants to the state and international competitions. In the 2015-2016 school year, membership has remained steady with just over 30 members, making the Southeast Collegiate DECA chapter the second largest in Missouri.
