Develop Your Career With Our Mass Media Partnership
This unique partnership between SEMO, KFVS12, and three Puerto Rican universities opens doors to cross-cultural experiences for both students coming to SEMO and going to Puerto Rico! This collaboration creates career-launching opportunities for mass media students.
What Will Puerto Rico Students Do With KFVS?
As a Mass Media intern with KFVS12, you'll:
- Create Spanish-language content for real viewers
- Earn course credit while gaining hands-on experience
- Develop bilingual journalism skills valued by major networks
Each semester, three exchange students learn at KFVS12, creating content for Spanish-speaking Gray Television outlets while completing their journalism studies. If you're an exchange student from Puerto Rico, you can experience American journalism education at SEMO. Speaking Spanish is helpful, but not mandatory.
Your experience through this program connects you to Gray Television, one of America's largest broadcasters, reaching 36% of U.S. homes. This experience could lead to opportunities at over 100 stations nationwide, including many Telemundo affiliates, for bilingual journalists.
Puerto Rico Universities
This partnership includes three respected institutions:
- Inter-American University (Universidad Inter American De Puerto Rico)
- Sacred Heart University (Universidad Del Sagrado Carazon)
- Ana G. Mendez University (Universidad Ana G. Mendez)
These universities, part of the Hispanic Educational Technology Services (HETS) program, provide immersion in the Spanish language and culture that transforms both your resume and worldview.
What Will SEMO Students Do With This Partnership?
As a SEMO student, you can now study in Puerto Rico through our exciting exchange program. You'll be fully immersed in the Spanish language and culture while attending one of three respected universities: Inter-American University, Sacred Heart University, or Ana G. Mendez University.
This unique opportunity helps you develop cross-cultural skills, improve your Spanish, and build international connections that will enhance both your education and future career prospects in mass media.
