I had the pleasure of being at Dobbins Conservatory's Landford Wilson New Playwriting Festival. Since I am a SEMO student I was able to audition to go and be part of a short play. Even thought I'm an upperclassman now, any HCAM student can audition, including incoming freshmen. I had an amazing time working on the short play, going to sessions watching the full lenhth plays, meeting incredible writers and theater producers, and seeing some great friends again.
The Beginning
The week started on Sunday. I was in one of the short plays titled, "Tequila Sunrise" by Emma Swain. Now, at Landford Wilson we do stage readings. This is when the actors have music stands with the scripts in front of them.
This short play had three characters: Layla, played by my, Jodie, played by Ella Richardson, and Carolyn, playing by Jullian Ledford. It was about these three best friends on a bus after Layla had a long and drunk night out. The story tells the lives of these girls and the difficulties being a part of the LGBTQIA+ comunity. This was directed by Jae Cook. It was amazing. I had a great time working with these people and performing for the audience.
