Do you have places you need to go, but don’t know how to get there? Then this is the blog for you!
There are so many ways to get around Cape Girardeau and beyond!
1) The campus transit system: There are two shuttle routes dedicated to campus, SEMO – Blue Route and SEMO – Green Route. The SEMO – Blue Route includes stops at the River Campus. They are white buses with a SEMO logo.

2) Cape Girardeau Transit Authority Shuttle: CGCTA offers a city bus route that picks you up from the International Village and the NexusTransit Facility, next to the Show Me Center, Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Students can use this FREE service to get to various locations throughout the city. There are two buses on the route, and each stop is serviced every 30 minutes. This shuttle makes getting around easy and totally student-friendly!
3) Cape Girardeau County Transit: There are two options with Cape Girardeau County Transit (CTA): you can use their fixed-route service or their demand-response vehicles. The fixed-route consists of two bus routes within the City of Cape that make stops at specific locations, including grocery stores and shopping areas. You can also use the demand-response vehicles, which operate as a taxi service. Wherever you're trying to go, the CTA makes it easy to be on the move!
There are also plenty of options if you’re traveling outside of Cape Girardeau.
1) Cape Girardeau Regional Airport: You can board a plane in Cape Girardeau that will get you to Chicago, Illinois. Flights leave daily and parking is free at the airport! Tickets average around $80 each way. The Chicago O'Hare airport even has international flights, so if Chicago is not your final destination, your options are still plentiful!
2) STL Shuttle Service: If you need to get to the airport in St. Louis, STL Shuttle Service is a great option. There are set times on the website, but those can be adjusted based on your flight time. They give large group discounts for three or more people.
3) Greyhound bus: CGCTA office located at 49 N Leming Ln is Cape Girardeau’s designated Greyhound bus stop with service to St. Louis and Memphis daily.
3) Amtrak: Amtrak is a train line that runs across the United States. Ticket prices range depending on how far you are traveling. There are several Amtrak stations within driving distance of Cape Girardeau, including Poplar Bluff, M0., Carbondale, Ill., and St. Louis, Mo.
Also, don’t be afraid to ask a friend for a ride. You’ll be saving carbon emissions! Pro tip: if you have a friend that drives you lots of places, it might be nice to offer them a little gas money from time to time.
