On Campus Coffee Shops

Grace Coffee (located in Dempster and the CAC on River Campus)

Grace coffee is great if you need a pick-me-up while heading to class. Their slogan is different is good, and they employ people with developmental disabilities at their off-campus site - 1865 Broadway St. Their off-campus location also serves as a café with paninis, wraps, salads, and more. I love their chicken caesar wrap!

The Beanery (located in the University Center)

The Beanery serves Starbucks drinks. When I was a freshman, I went every day and used my meal plan. Three years later, the baristas still remember my name and that I like sugary drinks. The hours for The Beanery are determined by SEMO, so be sure to stay up to date.

Local Coffee Shops

Ground-a-bout (338 Broadway St.)

Wanting a fantastic cup of coffee and charming setting? Look no further than the Ground-a-bout-Marquette. They proudly roast their beans in-house and truly care about the craft of coffee. Their 1920’s interior is the perfect vibe for a hangout spot or a place to grind away on your homework. I typically order an iced matcha latte with vanilla and a homemade chocolate muffin.

Red Banner Coffee Roasters (1 North Spanish St.)

Red Banner roasts their beans in-house and have Chugga Jugga’s, which are 64oz to-go-cups of coffee. Chugga Jugga’s can be cold brews, lattes, and more. Red Banner also offers many seasonal coffee flavors throughout the year.

Chain coffee shops

Dunkin Donuts (1001 N Kingshighway St.)

I’m a regular at Dunkin—is that something I should be proud of? I’m still trying to figure that out, but the workers throw extra donuts in my bag, so, in my opinion, it’s a win. Dunkin Donuts is a chain. The food and drinks are reliable no matter the location, and I love consistency. My favorite things to order are the green tea refreshers, bagel bites, and the double chocolate cake donuts.

Ziggi’s Coffee (1452 N Kingshighway St.)

Ziggi’s Coffee is a drive-through coffee shop, which is great for when I’m rushing between classes or on my way out of town. They have a wide variety of drinks and breakfast food, so don’t fret if you aren’t the biggest fan of coffee. I love the dragon fruit splash refresher, the smashberry energy infusion, and the plain bagel bacon breakfast sandwich.

Scooter’s Coffee (1705 N Kingshighway St. and 2402 William St.)

Scooter’s Coffee is also a drive-thru coffee shop, and there are two locations in Cape. I find myself at Scooter's when I want something that will keep me full. I love their protein smoothies—especially the mango and strawberry ones. The muffins are also delightful. Scooter’s Coffee has holiday promotions, like their Candyland drink in December. As a seasonal drink lover and overall festive person, I love these!

For the non-coffee lovers…

Mana Tea (411 Broadway St.)

Mana Tea is known for fun drinks, serving plenty of coffees, teas, smoothies, slushies, bobas, and jelly mix-ins. Mana Tea is a great place to visit with friends because they have plenty of tables and board games. I always order a milk tea (typically strawberry) with a flavored jelly. Orders are made to your preference with customizable sugar levels. I prefer things on the sweeter side, so I normally get one level up from regular.

ForTe Tea Lounge & Eventeur (120 Broadway St.)

Do you love tea, or at least love the aesthetic of it? Then I would suggest checking out the ForTe Tea Lounge & Eventeur. They offer cozy seating and natural light. Here you can relax, recharge, and enjoy a quiet moment. Plus, they have finger food. There is a wide variety of drinks and food offered to satisfy any craving.

My name is Jillian, and I am a senior about to receive my Bachelor of Fine Arts in musical theatre. As you can tell, I’m a coffee shop enthusiast and these are all the places I love to go around town!
