Frequently Asked Questions

No, you will complete field experiences as part of SEMO’s online RN to BSN program in Missouri, Illinois, Kentucky, Arkansas, Kansas, Oklahoma, or Iowa.
Field experiences are hands-on learning activities in real-world agency or community settings. You will work with a preceptor or mentor, set your own learning goals based on the course objectives, and complete assignments that may be outside your current RN role to help you grow as a BSN-prepared nurse.
You will complete field experiences at an agency where you will be able to complete your field experiences for NS386, NS390, and NS480.

For each field experience course (NS386, NS390, and NS480), you will choose a health care agency and your instructor will need to approve it when you enroll. You are responsible for meeting any agency requirements, such as flu shots, TB tests, or HIPAA training, before you begin.

You can usually complete field experience courses in the area where you hold your RN license, as long as you have an approved RN preceptor at that site.

You must already be a licensed RN, with an associate degree or diploma in nursing, to apply to SEMO’s online RN to BSN program. The RN to BSN degree does not give you RN licensure on its own.
SEMO's online RN to BSN program is specifically designed to accommodate registered, working nurses. Many of our students study during evenings, weekends, or days off while continuing to work their full-time job.

YES.

Our online program allows you to advance your education without leaving the workforce or sacrificing your income.
