A Master of Business Administration in Environmental Management combines traditional MBA coursework with specialized training in environmental science, policy, and management principles. All undergraduate requirements for admission must be satisfied before enrolling in the MBA required core or MBA elective courses. Students without an undergraduate degree in business may need to complete the following required foundation course work**: 

  • Principles of Accounting I or Graduate Business Accounting Essentials 
  • Microeconomics or Graduate Business Microeconomics Essentials 
  • Financial Management or Graduate Business Finance Essentials 
  • Management Information Systems or Graduate Business Information Systems Essentials 
  • Business Statistics I or Introduction to Behavioral Statistics or Graduate Business Statistics Essentials 

Students must earn a minimum grade of “C” in all of the above classes. 

**Proficiency in these areas may be demonstrated through any of the following alternatives: 

  • A CLEP or DANTES exam if available. Credit will not be given for these courses with a passing grade on the exam, but a passing score will indicate proof of course knowledge. 
  • Applied knowledge of a given domain in the work environment. The extent to which relevant work experience demonstrates proficiency will be determined by the program director. Applicants who would like their work experience to be considered must submit a resume with their application.

Graduate Assistantships

The graduate assistantship (GA) is designed to provide support during full-time graduate study. It’s an opportunity for the graduate students to serve in a professional role while establishing a professional relationship with faculty and administrators. In addition to a per year stipend, GAs gain valuable experience. There are two kinds of assistantships: teaching and administrative.
