Full refunds can be made if enrollments are cancelled no later than one week prior to the beginning of a session. 90% refunds can be made up to the end of the 2nd week of a session. After that time, refunds will be made only in cases of extended illness, or relocation of the student or teacher. Conflicts with other activities are not acceptable reasons for a refund. Refund requests must be made prior to the end of the enrollment period. Please notify the Academy immediately if lessons are discontinued for any reason – 651-2378.
Students are expected to attend weekly lessons and/or classes at the set time that has been arranged with your teacher. Students should arrive on time in order to receive the full allotted time. The Academy reserves the right to refuse enrollment to students who have demonstrated a lack of interest or whose attendance has been inadequate.
Please CALL YOUR TEACHER to cancel a lesson. Do not call the Academy office unless there is an emergency. Be sure to acquire you teacher's contact information at the first lesson.
Parents are responsible for the behavior of their children at all times while on the campus of Southeast Missouri State University. The River Campus is an academic complex and students will be expected to act accordingly. It is always best if young Academy students are accompanied to lessons or classes by a parent or guardian. In instances where this is not possible, students should be dropped off and picked up no more than five minutes before or after a lesson. If an unaccompanied child behaves inappropriately, the Academy will require the child be supervised by a guardian. In serious cases, the student's enrollment may be cancelled.
Each family will be issued a University parking permit, valid for fall or spring/summer semesters. The permit should be displayed on the dashboard. Families are responsible for paying tickets issued if your permit is not displayed or for other parking violations. Extra permits or replacement of a lost permit can be obtained from the Academy office for a fee of $10.
Parents receive a written evaluation at the end of each academic year from private teachers and Musicianship Class teachers. Evaluations provide parents with a report of students' progress, and inform them of goals for the upcoming year. In order to provide the highest quality instruction, we invite you to complete the "Evaluation of the Music Academy" form and return it to the Academy office. Your comments are needed and welcome. (Suzuki parents do not receive written evaluations, as progress is communicated weekly at Group Class).
The Music Academy will close when the university is closed. Announcements are repeated often on most local radio and television stations. Information regarding closing will also be on the Academy answering machine as soon as it is available. If you have a question about the status of Academy classes, please call the office at 651-2378, before leaving home.
