Returning Students

Ready to Move In?

As a returning student your meningitis vaccination record should already be on file. If you have not submitted a copy of your vaccination record, you need to submit verification before you move into the residence hall. If you do not receive the vaccintaion while you are at home over the summer, you will be directed to the Campus Health Clinic, operated by Southeast HEALTH, to obtain your meningococcal vaccination. The Health Clinic accepts most insurances and the charge can be applied to your student account. If you want to be exempt from receiving the vaccination, you must complete the waiver form and submit it to the Office of Residence Life. Both forms can be submitted by email or fax. Our email address is and the fax number is (573) 651-2257.

Early Arrivals

Students arriving prior to August 15th, or prior to their organziation's time slots listed below, will be charged a nightly rate of $25/night until their approved check-in slot.

Just a Reminder

Do's and Don'ts When Setting Up Your Room

Do bring an ethernet cord

Internet access in the residence halls consists of direct access from the use of Ethernet cords and WI-FI. We recommend that you don't connect more than two devices to the WI-FI at any time. WI-FI is available throughout the building, however, with the ever-increasing reliance on and use of technology, limiting the number of devices on the WI-FI improves access for everyone.

Don't connect printers and video consoles to the Wi-Fi

Limit streaming videos to Ethernet connected devices. This excess traffic can bog down the system and frustrate users due to the sluggishness of the system. Connect printers and video consoles to the Game Network for better reliability or turn off devices that are not currently used to avoid additional traffic.

ALCOHOL and MARIJUANA are major inhibitors of student academic success; Southeast Missouri State University will enforce the ban on alcohol and alcohol containers (full or empty). The use of recreational or medicinal marijuana in any form is prohibited by University policy.

CANDLES are a concern for your safety and are a danger to you and every other student in your building. However, electric candle warmers and electric scents are welcome.

Cable and internet are two things you will want to set up after you move into your room. Students must supply their own television and coaxial cable cord to view cable channels. All televisions must be equipped with a digital “QAM” or “Clear QAM” tuner. To access campus internet, you will need to register all electronic devices that need Wi-Fi. Instructions for accessing the internet are available online here:  IT Guide for personal devices

Move In Information

A de-centralized check-in process will take place at each hall. Students will go to the hall where they have been assigned to live to receive their key and campus information. Students arriving prior to August 15th will be considered an "early arrival" and are subject to the $25/night early arrival fee. Additionally, any student arriving earlier than the scheduled timeline listed below for their specific group, is subject to be charged the $25/night early arrival fee.

The following schedule has been developed to limit the number of students checking into a building at one time.

August 6-14: Open "early arrivals" check-in paying the $25/night charge, no pre-registration required - all early arrivals check-in at the Customer Service Desk in the Towers Complex

August 15: Marching band, Success @ Southeast Institute participants, approved students returning for campus department training – check-in will take place at the halls

August 16: Greek students and Show-Me Gold participants - check-in at the halls

August 17: Returning Southeast students - check-in at the halls

August 17: Meal plan usage begins with dinner in limited locations

August 18: Returning Southeast students - check-in at the halls

August 19: All dining areas open for normal academic year hours

August 20: Returning Southeast students - check-in at the halls

August 21/22: Open move-in, no pre-registration required - check-in at the halls

Check-in will take place between 8am and 4pm on the above dates. Students will reserve a move-in time slot on their designated day. Limited carts MAY be available, however, students are encouraged to bring their own to assist with their move-in. We encourage students to minimize what they bring from home and not bring anything but necessary belongings, and limit large furniture items. This will make it easier to move in and keep a non-cluttered living area.

Students who are unable to arrive during the designated days should contact Residence Life at or 573-651-2274 to discuss alternate arrival days/times.

To sign up for a move-in time slot log into the housing portal. Click on the Move-in Time Slot red box.  The date and time available for you are listed.  Select the date and time you wish to check-in.
