Katie coordinates all orientation activities for incoming students. This includes First STEP (Southeast Testing Enrollment Program) for new students, and Transfer Orientation for students joining Southeast from other colleges and universities.  She is involved with CampRedhawk- a summer transitional camp for incoming freshman that introduces them to leadership opportunities and campus spirit.

Katie also coordinates Opening Week, which includes New Student Convocation, SE 101, and the activities included in the annual Engage in 8! publication, for all events taking place during the first half of the fall semester. In addition, she presents financial aid sessions to students and their families in southeast, east central, and St. Louis, Missouri high schools, at Show Me Day, Showcase, and other recruitment events on campus.

Katie is the chair of the Opening Week and Orientation Coordination committees, and is a member of the Business Process Improvement Team, Enrollment Management and Student Success Council, the Substance Awareness Prevention and Education Group, the UI 100 Committee, Academic Advising Council, Professional Staff Council, Admissions and Marketing Group, Own Our Town and Own Our Campus Committees, International Student Liaisons Group, Athletic Compliance Committee, the Starfish Retention Workgroup, and the Cape Girardeau Chamber of Commerce.

In May 2010, she received a Bachelor of Science in Mass Communication with an emphasis in Public Relations, and minors in Marketing Management and Sports Management from Southeast. As a undergraduate, Katie was a Senior Student Ambassador and Show Me Day Coordinator in the Office of Admissions. In December 2016, she completed her Master of Arts in Higher Education Administration. Originally from DeSoto, Missouri, Katie now resides in Cape Girardeau with her dog Bruce. In her spare time, she loves to fish and boat, go shopping, and try new food. A huge sports fan, she attends many Southeast athletic events (S-E!) and as many St. Louis Cardinals games as she can.

Katie joined the Admissions team in August 2012 as Assistant Director of Admissions for New Student Programs and was named Director of New Student Programs in November 2018. Prior to her work in Admissions, she worked as a Financial Counselor in Student Financial Services. She is former Southeast Shout-out recipient and a past Employee of the Year. She is also three-time past chairperson for Professional Staff Council and serving her campus colleagues is a highlight of her time on campus.

Katie looks forward to meeting new and prospective students and helping them transition to life at Southeast, where she hopes they will love their experience on campus as much as she did. "Nothing will ever love you like Southeast loves you!"
