Students earning a degree in the Department of Allied Health, Kinesiology, and Sport Sciences from Southeast will be prepared for employment opportunities that include athletic training, exercise science, nutrition, physical education, physical/occupational therapy, public health, respiratory therapy, recreation and park administration, and sport management. Innovative faculty and diverse curriculum allow students the opportunity to obtain competitive jobs in corporate and commercial settings, government, and non-profit sectors.

The department is housed in the College of Education, Health, and Human Studies.

Academic Programs

Whether you are interested in health screenings, athletic contests, or exercise programs, our students are involved in every phase of the event. The graduates of our programs have hundreds of hours of practical experience and hands-on learning in the field through which they have applied the lessons from the classroom. Programs are offered on campus and online.

  • Hands-on Learning

    The department values internships throughout the curriculum. Hands-on learning in real-world settings is vital to our student's success.
  • Real-world Settings

    From research facilities to state-of-the-art equipment, students will learn in real-world settings through experiential learning. The experiences are imperative to the success of our students. The facilities and labs used for research are teaching facilities first. Most of these facilities are used for classes or laboratories and research activities. 
  • Laboratory Learning

    Multiple state-of-the-art labs are available for experiential learning in the department. From a bone density lab to the athletic training educational lab, Southeast offers multiple areas for students to gain real-world experience.
  • Student Organizations, Professional Experiences

    The Department of Allied Health, Kinesiology, and Sport Sciences has multiple student organizations such as the Health and Wellness Association, Sport Management Society, KNR Honor Society, Recreation and Park Administration Majors Club, Student Dietetic Association, and the Recreation Enhancement Club (REC). In addition, there are two special interest groups including the Archery Club and Outdoor Adventure Club.
