Additional Services
-
Counseling
Effective counseling is an active process that requires open and honest communication between client and counselor. Together, the client and counselor assess the client's concerns and make decisions for the most appropriate direction for support and/or change. -
Accessibility Services
Accessibility Services is the institutionally recognized program designated to provide both federally mandated services as well as proactive services for students with disabilities, by ensuring equal access. By providing leadership, advocacy, resources, mediation, and guidance to students with disabilities, Accessibility Services assists students with identifying barriers to their success and thus identifying ways to address those barriers. -
Walk and Talk Therapy
Walk-and-talk therapy is a type of counseling where you have your therapy session while walking outdoors instead of sitting in an office. It combines physical activity with mental health support, making talking about problems feel more relaxed and natural. The movement can help reduce stress and stimulate creativity, making it easier for some people to open up and work through their issues in a more informal setting. -
OASIS Supportive Counseling App
The Oasis Supportive Counseling app is designed to provide users with mental health support and resources. It typically offers features like guided meditations, mood tracking, and access to professional counseling services. The app aims to create a safe space for individuals to explore their feelings, manage stress, and improve their well-being. It's a helpful tool for anyone looking to enhance their mental health and find support in a convenient, user-friendly format.
Group Sessions
The Center for Behavioral Health and Accessibility offers group sessions to assist with stress, anxiety, addiction, and more.
Mental Health Screenings
Online mental health screenings are available for depression, alcohol, and eating disorders.
Trainings

The Southeast Missouri State University Suicide Prevention Training Program was designed to help faculty, staff, and students prevent suicide by teaching you to:
- identify people at risk for suicide
- recognize the risk factors, protective factors, and warning signs of suicide
- respond to and get help for people at risk
Step UP! Bystander Intervention Training
Step UP! is a prosocial behavior and bystander intervention program that educates students and staff to be proactive in helping others. Step UP! received a NASPA Gold award and recently was identified as a ‘Best Practice’ by the NCAA Sports Science Institute of national and international scholars. This course will help you raise awareness of helping behaviors, increase motivation to help, develop skills and confidence when responding to problems or concerns, and ensure the safety and well-being of self and others.
Stepped Care Model
The Center for Behavioral Health and Accessibility utilizes the stepped care model approach to meeting students' needs. We will make sure you get access to the resources you need to take care of your mental health!
