Staci Walters comes to Southeast Missouri State from Los Angeles, CA where she works as a freelance Scenic Designer and educator. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Drama from Trinity University in San Antonio, TX, and her Master of Fine Arts in Design and Production from California State University, Long Beach. The MFA program included a semester abroad studying and working with Theater Pokoleniy in St. Petersburg, Russia. She continues to cultivate a close, working relationship with the company.
Staci has been an adjunct instructor at CSU Long Beach and CSU Dominguez Hills where she taught advanced undergraduate and graduate level scenic design. In addition to her roles in academia, she has been actively pursuing a career as a freelance artist. She has designed for a variety of Los Angeles area theaters including Pacific Resident Theatre, International City Theatre, California Repertory Company, The Garage Theatre, Sacred Fools, and The Elephant Theatre. Recent scenic design credits include The Cherry Orchard and A View From the Bridge at Pacific Resident Theatre, The Threepenny Opera at The Garage Theatre, Around the World in 80 Days at International City Theatre and as the Assistant Scenic Designer for The Two Foscari at LA Opera. Staci was the Scenic Charge for Texas Shakespeare Company in 2010 and has been a scenic artist for more than 50 productions at theaters across the nation including The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey, Opera Theatre of Pittsburgh, and Shakespeare in the Park (NYC).
Most recently, Staci served as the Production Manager for the Department of Theatre and New Dance at Cal Poly Pomona where she advised and monitored student stage managers and backstage crews, and taught a course in stage management.
Staci's design work has been exhibited in Ming Cho Lee's Clambake in NYC, at Teatr Pokoleniy in St. Petersburg, RU, at Design Showcase West at UCLA, and at USITT in Long Beach, CA.
