Dusty Shaffer is experienced in all aspects of costume design and construction. Shaffer received his M.F.A. in Costume Design from the University of Florida in 2009. In addition to design and teaching, he works as a stage director and freelance illustrator/graphic designer.
In 2008, Shaffer won the prestigious Irene Smart Rains Costume Design Competition at the Southeastern Theatre Conference. He has also been recognized for his design work by the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival (Regions II & IV). In January of 2014, Shaffer was awarded with the KCACTF "Road Warrior Award" for excellence in production response.
Design credits include Forever Plaid and Godspell for the Clinton Area Showboat Theatre, Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson for the Maryland Ensemble Theatre, and the Rolling World Premier (in association with Atlantic Theatre Company for Kids) of Molly Shannon's Tilly the Trickster. In July 2013, Shaffer designed costumes for a television project through NBC/PBS Kids Sprout. He is currently pursuing membership with United Scenic Artists, Local 829.
