Welcome to Southeast Missouri State University! We're glad you are here and happy you are considering furthering your education at Southeast.

We're a comprehensive university with hundreds of degree programs and options, and we have about 11,000 students. This means we have the academic variety of a larger school but coupled with the class sizes and personal attention of a smaller school. We're located right near the Mississippi River in a town of nearly 40,000 people.

The Office of International Education and Services is here to help you find your path and consists of admissions, student and scholar services, study abroad, and our Intensive English Program.

Tips and Resources

  • Safety

Southeast is considered one of the safest schools in the state of Missouri. With our Department of Public Safety just a call away, emergency call boxes located throughout campus, and an SEAlerts program to let you know of any campus impacts, students can feel safe being on campus at all times.

  • International Village

The International Village serves as a hub for internationally-related activities on campus. In addition to being the home for the Office of International Education and Services and the Intensive English Programs, the International Village provides a number of different venues for people from the campus and community to gather in order to share and learn about the world around us and among us.
  • Cape Girardeau

Cape Girardeau, also called ‘Cape’ by the locals, is the home of Southeast Missouri State University. It is located on the Mississippi River in the Midwestern region of the United States about 120 miles (200 km) south of St. Louis. The town of about 40,000 people has a small town feel with necessary amenities like shopping, restaurants, museums, trails, and more.
